Archiving of documents in SAP™ is based on the ArchiveLink™ standard. If a solution is based on this standard, then it is mostly independent of the archiving system being used. When talking about document archiving, one roughly differentiates between incoming and outgoing documents. While the latter are created by SAP™ itself, the former enter the system through an external interface (e.g. scanning).
